Varsity Fall Cheer: Serving with Spirit
What are Friday Night Lights without a cheer team?
For generations, football and cheer have gone hand in hand. While the action unfolds between the sidelines, it is often the cheerleaders who provide the energy, enthusiasm, and spirit that bring a stadium to life. Throughout the fall season, the Ontario Christian Varsity Cheer team served as the heartbeat of game day, encouraging athletes, engaging fans, and creating an atmosphere that made every Friday night special.
Yet the impact of these young women extends far beyond the football field. The Varsity Cheer team consistently demonstrated what it means to serve others. Whether volunteering at the Knights Cookout, welcoming new students and families during orientation, or organizing the school’s annual Gold Out game to support children battling cancer, these student-athletes embraced every opportunity to make a difference in the Ontario Christian community. Cheerleading is a unique sport. The girls may never score a touchdown, hit a game-winning shot, or hear their names announced after a championship victory. Their contributions are often measured not in statistics or trophies, but in the encouragement they provide, the joy they bring, and the countless ways they support those around them. Every stunt, every chant, every act of service reflected a commitment to something greater than themselves. Through their leadership, enthusiasm, and willingness to serve, the Varsity Cheer team helped create a culture that united students, athletes, families, and fans throughout the fall season. Their impact is a reminder that some of the most important roles in athletics happen behind the scenes. While their names may not always appear in headlines, their influence is felt throughout the Ontario Christian community.
The Varsity Cheer team embodied the words of Mark 10:45: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” Through their dedication to others, these young women demonstrated that true leadership is found in serving with humility, joy, and purpose.
