Girls Soccer Victorious in Wild Card Round
The Ontario Christian girls varsity soccer team defeated the Sage Hill HS Lightning (Newport Beach) by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday at home in front of a delighted home crowd of supporters. After taking a 2-0 lead in the first half the Knights were back on their heals the rest of the match as the Lightning created multiple opportunities. Late in the second half Sage Hill was able to capitalize, pulling them to within one goal. Then, with 2:00 minutes remaining in the match the equalizer came as a result of a miscue by the Knights defense with a deflection resulting in a 2-2 score. The Knights were able to quickly rally creating an opportunity inside the goal box that would result in a penalty kick being awarded. Taylor Prado, who had scored the first two goals of the match on nearly identical breakaways, stepped up to net the PK giving her the hat trick and resulting in the game winning goal for the Knights. The Knights move on to face Alta Loma HS on Thursday at 5:00 pm on the road.
