Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Athletic Training Program at Ontario Christian to provide the highest levels of service to the student-athletes at Ontario Christian High School. This includes the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries as well as helping to direct the nutritional, physiological, and psychological needs of the student-athlete.  The care the Athletic Training Staff provides will be delivered with objectivity and a conscientious blend of concern for the healing of the athlete’s body, mind and spirit.

Philosophy

“As a lifelong Christian, I have always loved working at institutions where faith integration is a top priority,” Smith shared. “As an athletic trainer, I strive to emulate Christ’s example of being a servant leader, leading by example and with humility in everything I do. I am excited to join the OC community and help each athlete I work with reach their potential with the talents that God has blessed them with.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Across every stop in his career, Smith has developed a reputation for servant leadership, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to helping athletes thrive both physically and personally.

Rooted in his faith, Smith views athletic training as more than just caring for injuries, it is an opportunity to serve, mentor, and positively impact student-athletes through Christ-centered leadership.

Student Athletic Training Program

The Sports Medicine needs of the athletes of Ontario Christian Schools cannot be met by one person. It takes a team of loving, dedicated and hard-working individuals with the knowledge, skills and desire to see others succeed. These wonderful people are the Student Athletic Trainers. These students work tirelessly to care for their fellow student athletes. They provide hydration, cryotherapy, preventative taping, first aid and emergency care all under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer. These students earn an American Red Cross certification in First Aid, CPR and Automatic External Defibrillation use. They also earn certifications in preventative taping techniques. The Student Athletic Trainers work long hours with every sport to provide quality care and support as athletes work tirelessly at their chosen sport.

Student Athletic Training Alumni
