Jorgenson to lead Girls Basketball Program
Ontario Christian is excited to introduce Danielle Jorgenson as its Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach for the 2016-17 season. Coach Jorgenson is poised to take over the Knights basketball program and excited for the opportunity to minister to the students. Her love for the Lord, basketball acumen, and competitive edge will be a blessing to the OC program and community.
As a former college coach, Jorgenson brings a great deal of knowledge and experience. For 8 seasons (1994-2001) Jorgenson guided the Azusa Pacific University Women’s Basketball program where her teams enjoyed a .628 winning percentage (135-80). She was the 1999 GSAC Coach of the Year and claimed conference titles in 1999 and 2001. She developed a reputation for taking a great interest in her players and their families. Prior to coaching, Jorgenson enjoyed a very successful playing career at Biola where she was a 4-year starter and 2-year team captain. She still ranks 12th all-time in assists at Biola.
Danielle and her husband Gordon have three children: Hayden (18), an OC alum class of ‘15, Annaka (14), a freshman at OC, and Nolan (13) who will be attending OC next fall. After taking several years off to stay at home and raise her children, Jorgenson has been teaching adjunct at APU since 2009. She teaches in the Exercise and Sport Science department for the physical education teaching emphasis students (PETE). The Jorgenson family attends Inland Hills Church. Danielle and Gordon work extensively in the Outreach Department at Inland Hills and love serving God and His people, both here and abroad. As a family they have led over 10 teams from IHC, to Mexico to build loft houses. Danielle has also led several teams on mission trips to Guatemala and most recently, was honored to be a part of a small leadership team to visit and serve in leper colonies and remote village churches in Rajahmundry, India.
