Hannah Zeman Makes History

Ontario Christian’s Hannah Zeman has been busy making school history. She successfully battled her way through four separate qualifying golf tournaments to become the school’s first-ever female to qualify to play in the CIF State Golf Championships.

The talented lefty was one of 54 high school females from around the state to qualify to compete on the Poppy Hills course in Pebble Beach, CA. Her score of 75 earned her a tie for 10th place.

The 16-year-old junior had to do some fancy playing to get to Pebble Beach.

Her first stop was in Downey for the CIF Freelance Qualifier. Her 72 over the Rio Hondo course qualified her to advance to the next tournament level. At the CIF Southern Regional Tournament, held on the Dad Miller course in Anaheim, she posted another 72 and qualified to move on towards her goal of reaching the state tournament.

Hannah’s next challenge came in Oxnard at the CIF Southern Sectional Championship. There she tamed the River Ridge Golf Club posting a 76 to qualify for the CIF Southern California Championship being played in Riverside at Canyon Crest. This was the key tournament on her quest to reach state.

Her final score of 70 was good enough to earn her an invitation to the state tournament. She was one of only nine girls from southern California to advance to state.
